Urška Žigart’s fiancé, Tadej Pogačar, starts the Tour de France on Saturday after a less than ideal lead-up. The UAE Team Emirates rider crashed at Liège–Bastogne–Liège and broke his wrist. After the fall, he had to take some time off the bike, then stick to indoor training as it healed. He began riding outside again in May, and by the end of the month he joined his team at camp in Sierra Nevada. “Being back on the road feels. Recap of a few weeks work done at home,” the two-time Tour de France champion’s Instagram caption read. “Many hours of rehab sessions and more hours on the indoor trainer.”

Both he and Žigart took the national Slovenian time trial championships, with Pog also taking the road title. Fellow professional cyclist Žigart, who rides for Jayco–AlUla, posted some words of encouragement for him.
“It’s here, it’s finally here…the post you’ve all been waiting for. The annual pre-Tour de France post is here. It’s not always been the easiest this year and many times we had to multitask to get things done, but cuddles and good food solved a lot of the problems,” the post began. “Then there came a Belgian pothole that turned your smile upside down, but only for a day or two and we quickly realized, we already have the most important thing in life.”
