Laura Brown takes 8th in women’s omnium at track worlds

Canada’s Laura Brown takes eighth place in the women’s omnium upon the conclusion of the UCI world track championships held on Sunday in Cali, Colombia.

Brown went into the final omnium events sitting in seventh overall after placing ninth in both the flying lap and the points race, and sixth place in the elimination race on Saturday.

On Sunday, she moved up to sixth overall after placing fourth in the individual pursuit. She went on to place 15th in the scratch race and ninth in the time trial. She finished the women’s omnium in eighth place overall with a total of 52 points.

American Sarah Hammer won the world title with a total of 14 points ahead of Great Britain’s Laura Trott with 20 points and Australia’s Annette Edmondson with 24 points.

Canada had a successful world championships with Jasmin Glaesser taking the bronze medal in the points race on Saturday. Glaesser and Brown were also members of the women’s team pursuit squad that earned a silver medal on Thursday.
