The most popular food and drink on Strava in 2017

Beer is the winner, according to the fitness tracker website and mobile app

Do you ride for beer? Coffee? Perhaps pizza?

Well, according to Strava, beer is the most popular amoung it’s active user base of athletes. Strava, the online activity platform where users upload acitivities such as rides, runs, swims and more, lists beer as the food or drink mentioned the most in users activities.

In 2017, beer was mentioned (within the title of an activity) 102,033 times, more than three times that of the next closest food or drink. Coffee was mentioned 32,609 times.

Strava released the data in its “Year in Sport USA” report with the food and drink-specific information under the “Training to Eat or Eating to Train” category.

One of those activities with beer in the title was the most kudoed activity in the United States. The activity was logged by Erik Binggeser in February in Austin, Texas. The ride which lasted 3 hours and 43 minutes only covered 53 km but it was what was done during the ride which received the attention. The activity was titled ‘Saturday. New record for slowest average speed? Pokémon and beer and so much wheelie practice. Hands are wrecked. Ed.” The ride received 6,938 kudos. His activity which combined beer, Pokémon and wheelies over the course of a leisure ride sounds more enjoyable than riding flat out in the Pyrenees for over five hours which is what Romain Bardet needed to do to get the most kudos worldwide.
